Chief Placido
Eric was commissioned by Leadership San Marcos-Class of 2007 to create a bronze sculpture of Chief Placido for the City of San Marcos. The river was the lifeblood of the Tonkawa Indians, so it was only befitting that the life-size bronze bust was placed for all to see, near the river at City Park in San Marcos, Texas.
Chief Placido, leader of the Tonkawa tribe, became a personal friend to General Burleson, Sam Houston, Jack C. Hays and Stephen F. Austin. Placido became known as “the greatest single Indian ally that Texans ever had.” (Volume 44, No. 3, Southwestern Historical Quarterly).
Eric welcomes the opportunity to create a monument for your home or organization. Please call to inquire and Eric will be happy to assist.
